Giving cheerfully and sacrificially of our finances is part of our worship. At Redeemer, we believe that we, as believers, don't work to accrue personal wealth and possessions as an end in themselves. Rather, we seek to be faithful stewards of God's resources.

Few things communicate that our hope is in Jesus more than sacrificial giving. It is a message to all those around us that Jesus is worth more than anything, and that we are citizens of another kingdom. Giving grows our devotion to Christ. Giving frees us from the tyranny of consumerism. Giving provides an outlet for compassion. Giving provides us an opportunity to teach our families that money is a servant rather than our master. Therefore, out of love for Jesus, we give! (2 Corinthians 9:7; Proverbs 3:9)

At Redeemer, we urge believers to give, not by meeting some obligatory percentage, but by gladly sacrificing for the gospel, seeing Jesus Christ as our treasure and our example - the one who so willingly sacrificed himself for us. We praise God that he has used so many of us to pool our resources together for the gospel (2 Cor. 8:1-4) -- and that in doing so, he has enabled us to meet so many needs both within and outside of Redeemer. May he enable us to be faithful and joyous in our giving.

"Each one must give as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. --- 2 Corinthians 9:7-8

"There are three conversions necessary: the conversion of the heart, mind and the purse" --- Martin Luther
