What is the Gospel?

What is the Gospel?

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. - 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

The Gospel is the story of good news, a true story of how we can be brought back to God. The Gospel is the center of the Christian life. In the Gospel, we find our hope, life, security, freedom, and life with God.

Jesus died, not for His sins, but ours. He was crucified not to be a mere example to the world, but to be our savior. Jesus died in our place, for our sins, was punished by God the Father, and three days later He rose from the dead! And if we believe that Jesus did this for us, we are forgiven, freed, born again, justified, and promised a life with God.

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. - 2 Corinthians 5:21

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. - 1 Peter 2:24

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree." - Galatians 3:13
